Community
engagement

Engage generously and respectfully with our professional and rural communities.

Long-term resource sustainability should overrule short-term profit.

We produce

Established in 1980, the farm is the soul of Mariposa and all its activities.

On our 107 acres land, we have a mixed farm that specializes in the production of ducks, geese and pork.

On a smaller scale, the farm also produces vegetables, beef, eggs and flowers.  All our animals are free ranged, thus enjoying the benefits of the sun and fresh air.

All meat is raised free of hormones, chemical products and preservatives. Mariposa Farm has no slaughterhouse or processing plant. Our meat is processed in licensed facilities.

All our vegetables are produced without chemical products.  Composted manure from our animals is a key element in keeping and constantly improving our soil health and fertility.

Vegetables are grown in fields and in a greenhouse.  Flowers are part of the distinct landscape of Mariposa; growing them is celebrating and sharing the beauty of the growing season.

The farm is located in Plantagenet, Ontario – basically halfway between Ottawa and Montréal.

We market

People are increasingly more interest in where their food is grown an in connecting with the land and people who grow it.  Not only do we welcome visitors at the farm, but we also offer unique cabin rentals for overnight stays.

Over the years, Mariposa Farm has been working with many small-scale local producers, meat and food processors to bring to the Ottawa-Gatineau fine dining tables a wide range of top-quality food produced by passionate farmers.

In doing so, Mariposa has become one of the most reputable food distributors in the region.

What we offer to restaurants, we now also offer to our retail clients. Mariposa has a farm store open on Saturdays. The farm also offers curbside pick ups and home deliveries.

We encourage

Mariposa is encouraging local food production by offering garden plots of various sizes for beginners or experienced gardeners. We also welcome beekeepers at the farm. If you have an idea for growing local food, we are ready to listen and see how we can help.

We connect

People are increasingly more interested in where their food is grown and connecting with the land that provides it.  Not only do we welcome visitors at the farm but we also offer unique rental cabins for overnight stays.

We love to connect and interact with our clients and the public. Sharing our passion for agriculture and the importance of local food is our way of honouring and promoting our livelihood.

From our point of view, the most exciting and satisfying career possible is being a farmer.
